The National Hurricane Center is monitoring an area of low pressure that could develop over the western Atlantic later this week. The system is expected to form along a weakening front a few hundred miles south of Bermuda over the next day or so.While the disturbance could develop some subtropical characteristics as it drifts slowly over the Atlantic, development chances remain low. The National Hurricane Center gives it a 10% chance of development over the next 48 hours and a 30% chance over the next seven days.By this weekend, the system is expected to move east into less favorable conditions, decreasing its chances of further development. There are currently no concerns of a direct threat to Florida or the U.S. mainland.
