The owner of Wicked Arsenal withdrew a proposal Wednesday to turn 54 acres near Groveland into an outdoor firearms training range after neighbors raised hours of concerns about safety, noise and the site’s proximity to homes.The proposal was discussed during a Lake County Planning and Zoning meeting. The property, located off Crawford Road near the Sloan Ridge community, is currently zoned for agricultural use.Residents spoke one after another, urging the board and the owner to stop the plan.“Five hundred feet from somebody’s house is not suitable for a commercial gun range,” Lawton Rozar said. “It’s just bad planning.”Neighbors said they were especially concerned about how close the proposed target area would be to nearby homes.Del Ramsey, who lives near the property, attended the meeting with her family.
